This blog contains several images from my portfolio that shows my graphic ability in various different ways. As a designer I'm mainly inspired by Marian Bantjes as i like the feminine style of her designs and the unusual materials she uses. I also take inspiration from various different magazines such as Dazed and Confused and ID magazine these particular publications give students a good insight into what's going on in the industryThe work I have submitted showcases my skills not only when developing artwork on screen but also by hand i feel that i have developed these skills further whilst being on my current Foundation Diploma course at Newcastle Under Lyme College. I have enjoyed the course so far as it has allowed me to widen my skills and knowledge of different specialisms as well as my preferred specialism choice of graphic design.
Various pieces i have submitted below have taken an influence from places i have had the opportunity to visit, including New York, from photos i took and the sights i saw i created the opening sequence for 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' using my own photos. I also embellished over maps of New York with a sewing machine in contrasting colours and i created a visual image that expressed aspirations and dreams that i have, one of these included travelling the world, so i used a map that showed places i wanted to visit and revealed an image from New York.
I would like the opportunity to study at MMU as i feel the university has good connections to the industry and there is a wide variety of museums in the centre of Manchester so this would give me lots of first hand research when looking around the exhibitions.
